Improve Your Relationship with Abundance

Updated: Nov 5, 2019

Abundance is a popular buzzword in the metaphysical realm: attract abundance, manifest abundance, and live abundantly. We know abundance means a lot of something. Typically when people work on manifesting abundance it is to have a lot of money or a lot of love in their lives. In this article, we will focus on the financial aspect of abundance.

There are a lot of really cool ways people work on manifesting abundance, like prayer, vision boards, the Law of Attraction, meditation, affirmations, tapping into the quantum realm, energy healing, etc. With so many ways to manifest abundance in our lives, you might be wondering why you or other people might struggle with experiencing financial abundance. Debt is high, people live paycheck to paycheck, people work multiple jobs, and so on. Let’s talk about some root cause for lack of abundance.

Belief Systems

There are many popular, but negative, beliefs about financial abundance. People who are rich are greedy. Money is the root of all evil. No one deserves to have that much money. People with money should have to share their money with everyone else. The list goes on. One of the coolest things about beliefs is that if you believe it to be true, it’s true! Not that it’s actually really true, but it’s true for you. And if it’s true for you, then these are exactly the experiences you’ll encounter and manifest for yourself. Think about the beliefs you have surrounding money.

While there are greedy rich people, it doesn’t mean all rich people are greedy. Greed is an undesirable trait. If you believe this, can you see how your desire to not be greedy would limit your ability to manifest more financial abundance in your life?

While money has been used improperly with evil intentions, money itself is not evil. If you believe money is evil, can you see how you might repel abundance from your life?

While some people have much more money than other people, it is not our place to determine how much money each person should be able to have. If you believe it’s possible that people make too much money, can you see how that could cap your potential earnings in your lifetime?

Money is simply a tool. It’s meant to be earned, spent, invested, exchanged, shared, borrowed, and donated. Are your beliefs surrounding money helpful or harmful to you?

Negative Thoughts

“I can’t afford that!” or “I could never afford that!”

Oooh, just typing those popular phrases out just makes my tummy hurt! I know you’ve heard it before: the things we say and the thoughts we think are powerful. They are so so so powerful. If you go running around town telling everyone you can’t afford something, don’t ever expect to be able to afford it. Sure, there are things that you might not be able to afford now, but don’t prevent yourself from ever affording it because of silly thoughts like the one above. What is it you desire that requires money? Instead of saying you can’t afford something, focus on acquiring the necessary resources to make that purchase.

“I’m open and willing to receive the things I need to <<fill my tank with gas, buy groceries, get a new pair of shoes, buy a car, get married, buy a house, take a vacation, go to the spa, etc.>>.”

Be very careful with your thoughts and what you say. They matter!

Your Relationship with Abundance

When you take away your negative beliefs surrounding money and your counterproductive thoughts and statements, you're ready to re-establish your relationship with abundance. How do you want to be treated? The Golden Rule states: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Treat abundance how you’d like abundance to treat you.

Last week I bought a wreath from Hobby Lobby. I thought it was 50% off like most things are there, but after checking the receipt I learned I was wrong and had paid full price. I could have saved $25 had I bought it on sale, and this really bothered me. I know it isn’t a ton of money, but $25 is a meal, a half tank of gas, fun money, whatever! I needed to go back to Hobby Lobby the following week and decided to bring my wreath and receipt with me just in case it was now 50% off. As I got closer to the store, I began to feel really cheap over this $25 debacle. I didn’t bring my wreath inside with me, but I walked over to the wreath aisle and sure enough, 50% off. The nagging feeling it would be wrong to get my money back grew stronger. At checkout, I asked the cashier if they did anything for that and I was told they would need a receipt and the wreath. I completed my purchase, walked back to my car, confirmed with my spirit guides I shouldn’t try to get money back (I love group think!), and drove home.

Why did I feel so bad about maybe trying to get my money back? It could be that it wouldn’t be a very nice thing to do to a business. But the other part is that being so dramatic over $25 was absolutely living in a place of fear and scarcity, and that’s not what abundance is about. Having those feelings eliminates trust and faith which limits our abilities to receive and have abundance flow through us. This situation was a good reminder that I needed to reassert my relationship with abundance.

A healthy relationship with abundance doesn’t mean you always buy things full price (when you know next week they’ll be on sale) just because you can. It means you don’t have guilt or fear of “sharing too much” with others because you know abundance is constantly flowing through you. If you would like abundance to give to you generously, then you need to give generously. Volunteering, doing a little extra at work or home, being more affectionate, or sharing more of your time with others are all non-monetary ways to give generously. If you desire abundance to be open to you, you need to be open to abundance.

What kind of relationship do you have with abundance?

I have done hundreds of energy healing sessions around abundance. Sometimes wanting to believe, think, or act in certain ways isn’t enough. The energy flowing (or not flowing) through us over the years, possibly even lifetimes, has been programmed in a negative way, and we need help. I strongly encourage you to experience energy healing to overcome the blocks and barriers to help improve your relationship with abundance.
