Try This | Weekly Tips for Experiencing More Joy, Wellness and Abundance

Updated: Dec 9, 2019

“Try This” is a weekly series providing tips and ideas to create joy, wellness, and abundance in your life.

Spring time is so fresh and so beautiful, and it's also a time to take extra special care of your animal companions when they're out and about. This week I'd like to share a recipe I have been using for our dog. The first time I tried it we were traveling from wintry conditions in North Dakota to green grass and fresh air in the country in Montana. I had not yet doused her with a popular brand of flea and tick treatment and was extremely worried about her wellness as I knew she would soon be chasing deer and turkeys, having the time of her life. But what I did have were several of my essential oils. I have been using the following recipe on our lab mix for the past few years and am super happy with it.

Spring/Summer Blend for Dogs

Recipe:

2 drops Cedarwood essential oil

3 drops Citronella essential oil

3 drops Lavender essential oil

1 drop Orange essential oil

3 drops Purification essential oil

2 drops Thieves essential oil

Mix all oils together in a small dish.

How To Use:

Apply your essential oil mixture to your dog's collar and let dry. The mixture is a small amount, but I will add the remaining to the scruff of her neck. You can also dispose excess mixture in the garbage. If you have a small or medium breed dog, I recommend diluting with a carrier oil like avocado, coconut, or olive.
