The Cause behind Your Worries and Fears and What to Do about It

Updated: Dec 9, 2019

I have read that fear and worry can be equated to lack of faith and trust. As a spiritual and Christian being, this really bothered me because I do have worries and I do have fears, and I never realized that could mean I was lacking faith; even worse, I didn't trust God. I took time to reflect on this.

I realized the cause of fear and worry is actually about control. I feel the top reason we fear and worry is because we don't have control over an outcome or what happens next. We can only control a situation up to a certain point, but the outcome is often determined by someone or something else: the grade your teacher gives you, the raise you receive (or don't) at your job, getting stuck behind a train when you're trying to be somewhere, how your partner fulfills your needs, how children treat your child, and so on. It's easy to understand why so many of us are full of fear and worry. It's difficult to give up control. We put in all the work and effort only to have the outcome decided by someone or something else that we cannot control.

Realizing we don't have control over everything is one thing, but being able to exercise acceptance of this is another. And the good thing is there are so many things we CAN control, like our actions, reactions, thoughts, feelings, and emotions. However, accepting this usually doesn't just happen overnight, it takes practice. We all know eating healthy, exercising regularly, and getting appropriate amounts of rest are essential in our overall wellness, and there are other things you can do, too. Here are other strategies I use to help me.

Prayer: Prayer is the act of communicating with God, Mother Earth, spirit guides, whichever your preference. This is an opportunity to give away your worries and fears. It's also an opportunity to express your gratitude for your experiences and what you have and also for the things you want to gain, accomplish, and achieve.

Energy Healing: Many fear and worry issues revolve around beliefs and programming. Energy healing helps clear out those non-beneficial beliefs to make room for more appropriate beliefs. For example, the belief you don't deserve good things can be cleared to make room for the new belief you do deserve good things.

Meditation/Mindfulness: Practicing meditation and mindfulness promotes relaxation, awareness, self-control, and also allows you to connect with your higher self. Meditation is a practice. When you first begin, I recommend seeking guided meditations. Look for opportunities in your community, download an app, or search online.

Affirmations: These are positive thoughts and positive self-talk. Affirmations are statements that can be written, spoken, repeated, and said aloud. They are a great way to re-train your mind to show yourself love, acceptance, and appreciation.

Essential Oils: The aromatic influence essential oils has on our emotions is astounding. There are many single oils and essential oil blends that have been developed to support specific emotional states.

Although I understand the concept that fear and worry could mean lacking trust in God, I don't believe these feelings make us any less spiritual or faithful. Instead it provides us the opportunity to work on ourselves to strengthen our faith, increase our self-awareness, and improve our state of being.

Be love. Be light. Just Be.
